US Ambassador To India Tries Maharashtrian Food In Delhi, Watch His Reaction
Maharashtrian food is loved by many not only in the state itself but also in other parts of the country. From famous street food items like vada pav and bhel to wholesome dishes like thalipeeth and zunka, there are so many savoury treats to choose from. And there is no shortage of sweet and beverage options either. The US Ambassador To India, Eric Garcetti, recently had the chance to sample some of these amazing delicacies for himself. He visited Maharashtra Sadan in Delhi, along with three of his colleagues, who explained the dishes to him.

In a video shared on the embassy's official Twitter handle @USAmbIndia, we see him digging into the Maharashtrian meal. He first tried some refreshing kokum sherbet. It quickly won his approval, given the hot weather outside. Next, he tasted vada pav, which he called a "Mumbai slider." He also tried some sabudana (sago) khichdi. In the main course, he had Bharli Vangi (a stuffed brinjal dish) with bhakri. He also tasted some saoji mutton curry. According to his colleagues, its actual recipe is typically kept a secret. Next, holding up a bowl of aamras, he said, "It is like being able to have dessert in the middle of your meal." Before moving on to the actual desserts, he sipped on some cooling sol kadhi. Among the sweet treats, he tried puran poli (dipped in milk).
